PRP is an autologous concentrate of platelets in a small volume of plasma with a platelet concentration greater than 1 million per milliliter of serum or greater than five times the baseline value of 150,000-350,000 / µl.
PRP is a source of cytokines, growth factors, and alpha-granules that promote tissue repair and wound healing.
PRP is used with an autologous process so it is NOT associated with allergic reactions or problems with self-antigens or hetero-antigens!
